Shaun's Movie Review

Last night we watched "My Wife is an Actress". Excellent. It was a funny and very well done debut by Yvan Attal. He was quite charming in his insecurities. Favorite scenes pop into my head when I think of this movie: the nude scene, "birth of a flower", house of cards, "Yvah, not Yvonne". It's even more intriguing because the film is based on his life with his real-life wife/actress who stars opposite him. And Terence Stamp is a handsome man. (Not so great looking as a woman, though 'Priscilla' is another one of my favorite movies.)

Recently we watched "What's Love Got To Do With It" starring Angela Bassett's arms. I couldn't take my eyes off of them, or her shoulders. Beautiful. Afterward, we looked her up on IMDB and we have the same birthday, except that she is 8 years ahead of me (as is Madonna). I liked this movie too. I love stories about strength of character, and personal transformation. Larry Fishburn has come a long way from Cowboy Curtis on PeeWee's Playhouse.

OK, I guess I'm becoming a movie critic. I won't make a career of it because I wouldn't want to have to miss half the movie because I was taking notes (which is what I think some critics do), and I'd rather spend my weekend afternoons at the dog park. On another page I'll keep a few lists: my 'A' list, 'B' list and hopefully short "Save Your Precious Dollars' (or "It Sucked') list. Here I will post my thoughts about whatever I just watched. We don't get out to the movies much, so usually I'll be commenting on new releases on DVD and VHS. Every now and then I'll watch something old that I've never seen, or, had to see again either because I fell asleep or I was young and distracted or forgot a lot of it for some reason.
Now that I'm older I'm much more opinionated. I've discovered I'm pretty damn picky.
